Carrie Erickson started her career with Origin Active Lifestyle Communities in 2004 as a new graduate of the University of Alberta, working as a Recreation Therapist at Whitehorn Village Retirement Community. She quickly moved into a management role as the Director of Recreation and Community Relations in 2005. There she grew the programing and led her team to become recognized as one of the most successful recreation programs in Calgary. Carrie is also currently the National Manager of Life Enrichment Programs for Origin Active Lifestyles Communities. Carrie is an AFLCA (Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association) fitness leader for older adults, a certified Master Trainer with Urban Poling, certified Cognitive Stimulation Instructor and is Fallproof certified from California State University Fullerton.
Carrie sits on Alberta Health Services’ Older Adult Fall Prevention and Community Rehab and Fitness committees. Carrie is the Recreation Therapy consultant for the Finding Balance Algorithm for the Alberta Centre for Injury Control and Research. Carrie also sit on the board of directors for the Calgary Seniors Housing Forum Society.
Carrie’s role is to develop Life Enrichment programs and ensure that we are offering residents the best possible quality of life. Through innovation and creativity Carrie leads Origin’s Life Enrichment team in moving towards becoming the active lifestyle gold standard by focusing on Origin’s branded program (SWING, Thinkfit, Original Expressions, Tempo and Origin Way-to-go)
Carrie is incredibly excited to be a part of the Swan Evergreen Village team and help grow this community into a vibrant and engaging home for it’s residents.
